How Steal an Egg income works
Every pet has a base income and a hidden base weight. When you hatch an egg, the game rolls the pet's weight and, separately, its colour mutation. Income is:
$/s = base income × size multiplier × mutation multiplier
- Up to 125× the base weight: size multiplier = (weight ÷ base weight)37/60.
- Above 125×: size multiplier = (weight ÷ base weight)2/5 × 12513/60. Bigger is still better, but each extra kilogram adds less.
Weight matters more than most players expect. A pet at 100× its base weight earns about 17× its base income, which beats a Rainbow mutation (×3.5) at normal size. See the mutation multipliers for every colour.
Worked example: Giant Sloth
Giant Sloth has a base income of $4M/s and a base weight of 12,000 kg on the wiki. With no mutation:
| Size | Weight | Size multiplier | Income |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1× | 12,000 kg | ×1.00 | $4M/s |
| 2× | 24,000 kg | ×1.53 | $6.133M/s |
| 10× | 120,000 kg | ×4.14 | $16.55M/s |
| 50× | 600,000 kg | ×11.16 | $44.64M/s |
| 100× | 1,200,000 kg | ×17.11 | $68.45M/s |
| 125× | 1,500,000 kg | ×19.64 | $78.55M/s |
| 200× | 2,400,000 kg | ×23.70 | $94.8M/s |
| 1000× | 12,000,000 kg | ×45.12 | $180.5M/s |
A Golden copy multiplies each line by 2.5, a Rainbow copy by 3.5.
Tips for using the numbers
- Compare eggs before you carry them. Heavier eggs slow you down. Use the target box to see whether a big egg of a cheap pet is worth more than a small egg of a rarer one.
- Check a pet you already own. If the calculator and the game disagree, put that pet into the calibration box. The base weight it finds is what the game is using right now.
- Plan your pen total. Add each pet to My pen to see your income per hour, then swap pets in and out to see what an upgrade is worth.
FAQ
How is Steal an Egg income calculated?
Income per second = base income × size multiplier × colour mutation multiplier. The size multiplier is (weight ÷ base weight)37/60 up to 125× the base weight, and grows more slowly after that. This is the formula documented on the Steal an Egg Wiki (Fandom).
Does the egg colour change income?
No. According to the wiki, egg colours only change how the egg and pet look. Size (weight) and the colour mutation of the hatched pet are what change income.
Why does a pet say “base weight unknown”?
The wiki lists base weights for 191 of 265 pets. For the rest, enter a size ratio, or use the calibration box: type the weight and the $/s shown on one of your own copies and the calculator works out the base weight.
Do two colour mutations stack?
The wiki shows one colour mutation per pet, so this calculator applies one. If the game ever shows two on one pet, multiply the result by the second multiplier.
Is the result exact?
It follows the published formula and the wiki’s base numbers, so it should match the game closely, but rounding on the pet card and unlisted update changes can make small differences. If you find a mismatch, the calibration box will tell you the base weight the game is really using.
